AGENT CARTER: Hayley Atwell & Louis D’Esposito Video Interview

When the character of Peggy Carter was introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger, no one – least of all star Hayley Atwell – could have predicted how beloved she would become.

Since the release of the first Captain America in 2011, Atwell has remained a prominent fixture in the Marvel universe with a featured one shot that debuted alongside the DVD release of Iron Man 3, as well as a crucial role in this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And come 2015, she’ll be headlining her own television series.

“It’s a dream….it’s kind of the gift that keeps on giving,” Atwell said when we spoke to her at Comic Con. “It keeps coming back and changing my life for the better.”

Agent Carter will debut this winter, filling the hiatus gap while fans wait for the return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – and Atwell can’t wait for fans to learn more about her character. “I’d like to see the emotional and psychological costs of her as a woman who’s dealing with compromising her relationships over time in order to save other people, and make sure she’s not putting other people in danger,” she noted. “As well as grieving over the loss of the love of her life.”

  1. I just really admire how invested Hayley already is in Peggy from her years of playing her already and am excited to see how that influences the decisions she makes in the show.
