The first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. changed the lives of everyone involved in Coulson’s team, perhaps none more than the super science team of Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz.
When we left the duo better known as FitzSimmons, they had been rescued from a watery grave by former S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury. And while Simmons went on to rejoin the team and help fight against Ward and Hydra, Fitz remained in critical condition, his future uncertain as the credits rolled into summer hiatus.
So how will the characters find themselves when the show returns in two weeks? “She’s changed a lot from what happened at the end of last season,” Hendstridge revealed when we spoke to her at Comic Con. As for her relationship with Fitz, which underwent almost as much turmoil and growth as both characters did individually, it’s “one we’re going to explore more in terms of guilt and regret,” Henstridge explained, alluding to the fact that there might be some palpable angst and fun dynamics to look forward to.
