At the end of last season, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. viewers saw Adrianne Palicki’s Mockingbird almost on death’s door, thanks to the actions of Big Bad Grant Ward. Luckily, Mockingbird survived the encounter, but her recovery isn’t without setbacks.
“I don’t know if she’s going to be great at retirement,” said Palicki at San Diego Comic Con, when asked about her character in season three. “I think she’s going to figure out if she wants to retire.”
As for her relationship with longtime partner Hunter (Nick Blood)? “I think both of our characters found more vulnerability,” Palicki explained. “The idea of losing each other was bigger than anything else.” And while they don’t have all the details about how the pair might have met and worked together before joining up with S.H.I.E.L.D., Blood teased that they have fun with thinking about what might have happened in the past — but he can’t promise we’ll see any of that history any time soon.
“Never say never,” he added coyly, in the vein of a spy.
